Tragedy Strikes: 10 Killed in Prague University Shooting

A person attacked Charles University in Prague ,9 were injured and 10 died along with the attacker .The police confirmed the news .

A tragic event unfolded at Charles University in central Prague, where ten people lost their lives and nine were seriously injured in a shooting on Thursday, according to Czech emergency services. The shooter was also died whose identity remains unknown.10 Killed in Prague University Shooting.

Bohuslav Svoboda, the governor of the Prague region, shared that the assailant fell from the roof of the university’s faculty of arts building after opening fire on Jan Palach Square, a peaceful area by the Vltava River in the heart of the Czech capital.  Police confirmed the shooter’s elimination, But they did not explained the details on how it occurred. The Faculty of Arts building in Prague’s Old Town was evacuated, and the adjacent square was sealed off.  People were seen running away in the video which was shared on Social Media.

This is the very tragic incident which took place in the Central European country, prompting Prime Minister Petr Fiala to cut short a trip and return to Prague. The police, via a message on the X social media platform, urged residents to stay indoors as their intervention continued.

The square where the tragedy occurred is named after Jan Palach, a student who, in 1969, immolated himself in protest of the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. Charles University was founded in 1348 and it  is one of the world’s oldest universities.
